Program Description

Experience nature at its best and stand face to face with the king of the forest – the bison! Bialowieza National Park on the Polish-Belarussian border is the oldest national park in Poland, one of the oldest in Europe and the only natural UNESCO site in our country.

Pickup from hotel in Warsaw and transfer to Bialowieza National Park. The tour starts with a 3-hour walk through the Strictly Protected Area accompanied by a professional local guide. It is the heart of Bialowieza and its most precious area which was created by nature itself without any human intervention. Next, a visit to the European bison Show Reserve. Despite its name, the reserve is inhabited not only by bisons, also called the kings of Bialowieza, but also several other species. Deer, elks, wild boars, wolves, tarpans, Polish horses, lynx, zubron (hybrid of bison and domestic cattle) live in this area in semi-natural conditions.

The tour program also includes Palace Park – a glorious garden located in the heart of the wild forest served as a hunting residence of the Russian tsars. You will visit a wooden manor house that used to be a seat of the Governor of Grodno and one of the favourite relaxing places of Tsar Alexander II.

The tour will proceed to Orthodox Parish of St. Nicholas founded by tsar Alexander III which served as tsar’s private temple. Afterwards, enjoy lunch in Tsar’s restaurant located in an old building of railway station. It will be a great opportunity to admire (from the outside) the luxury railroad wagons transformed to tsarist saloon which is now a hotel.

The tour will end with a visit in Hajnowka, where the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church – Poland’s largest two-tier Orthodox Church is located. The cathedral is also known for its International Festival of Orthodox Church Music. Transfer back to hotel in Warsaw.

This excursion is organized on private basis for small groups of 2 - 8 participants.
