Program Description

The western part of Lesbos offers a completely different landscape from the island’s lush southern region. Volcanic scenery, unique geological formations and peaceful seaside villages reveal a lesser-known side of this Greek island.

The first stop will be Limanos, home to the Monastery of Saint Ignatius, which dates back to the Byzantine era. This important religious site provides a fascinating insight into the island’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

Next, you will visit the Museum of the Petrified Forest, where remarkable fossils dating back around 20 million years are on display. The area forms part of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network and is considered one of Greece’s most significant geological treasures. During your visit, you will learn how powerful volcanic eruptions shaped this extraordinary landscape. There will also be an opportunity to visit the Earthquake Room, which presents the seismic activity that has influenced the region throughout its history.

The final stop will be Skala Eressos, a picturesque seaside resort on the shores of the Aegean Sea. You will have free time to relax on the beach, enjoy the sunshine or have lunch in one of the local tavernas serving traditional Greek cuisine.
