Program Description

The Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and Vatican City bring together some of the most important chapters in the history of Rome. From the grandeur of the Roman Empire to the artistic and religious legacy of the Vatican, these landmarks reveal how the city evolved over centuries.

Begin with the Colosseum, the largest amphitheatre ever built in the Roman Empire. Constructed in the 1st century AD, it once welcomed tens of thousands of spectators who gathered to watch gladiator contests, animal hunts and other public spectacles. Despite earthquakes, centuries of damage and the removal of building materials, the monument remains one of the strongest symbols of ancient Rome.

Nearby, the Roman Forum formed the political, religious and social heart of the ancient city. Its temples, basilicas and public spaces were once at the centre of Roman public life. Rising above the Forum, Palatine Hill is traditionally associated with the foundation of Rome and later became the site of imperial residences.

The experience also includes the Vatican Museums, home to one of the world’s most important art collections, and the Sistine Chapel, famous for Michelangelo’s frescoes. The visit is completed by St. Peter’s Basilica, one of the most significant churches in Christianity and a masterpiece of Renaissance and Baroque architecture.
