Program Description

Step into the world of Rembrandt and discover the place where one of the greatest painters of the Dutch Golden Age lived and worked for almost 20 years. The Rembrandt House Museum invites you to explore the historic 17th-century home where the artist developed his career, created his works and taught aspiring painters.

During your visit, you will explore Rembrandt's living quarters, art collection and atelier, gaining a closer look at both his everyday life and artistic practice. Period furniture, artworks and historical objects help recreate the atmosphere of the house and offer insight into the world that surrounded and inspired him.

You can also discover Rembrandt's artistic techniques during daily demonstrations of painting and etching. See how works were created using traditional methods and learn more about the techniques used by Rembrandt and artists working in his circle.

The visit also includes access to the museum's modern wing, where temporary exhibitions present works by Rembrandt as well as artists inspired by his legacy. A multimedia tour, available in 16 languages, provides additional stories and context about the artist's life, work and home.

Families can explore the museum in an engaging way with a special multimedia tour featuring Rembrandt's dog Kwast or take part in a treasure hunt designed for younger visitors.

Whether you are an art enthusiast or simply want to discover another side of Amsterdam's cultural heritage, the Rembrandt House Museum offers a fascinating insight into the life, work and lasting influence of one of the world's most celebrated painters.
