Program Description

Discover two remarkable cities on Tunisia’s Mediterranean coast and immerse yourself in the country’s rich history, culture and traditions. This excursion to Monastir and Sousse offers the perfect opportunity to explore impressive landmarks, visit bustling bazaars and experience places that have played an important role in Tunisia’s history for centuries.

The first stop is Monastir, one of the most picturesque cities on the Mediterranean coast. Here, you will visit the Ribat of Monastir, one of the oldest and best-preserved Islamic fortresses in North Africa. Built in the 8th century, the Ribat served both as a defensive stronghold and a place of worship. As you explore its courtyards and towers, you will learn about its fascinating history while enjoying panoramic views of the city and coastline.

Next, you will visit the Mausoleum of Habib Bourguiba, the final resting place of Tunisia’s first president and one of the most influential figures in the country’s modern history. The monument is renowned for its elegant architecture, golden domes, slender minarets and richly decorated interiors, making it one of Monastir’s most iconic landmarks.

After the sightseeing, there will be free time at the Soula Center Grand Bazaar, where you can browse a wide variety of local handicrafts, traditional products and souvenirs. It is the perfect place to discover local craftsmanship and purchase unique gifts or keepsakes from Tunisia.

The excursion then continues to Sousse, one of the oldest cities in Tunisia. Here, you will explore the historic Medina of Sousse, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking through its narrow streets, you will experience the authentic atmosphere of a traditional Tunisian city, filled with local shops, lively markets and historic architecture.

After the visit, you will return to your hotel.

The order of visits and the programme may be subject to change.
